When was World War 2?

Many people ask the question ‘When actually was World War 2’ as conflicting messages are constantly placed online to the exact start and finish date.

World War 2 actually started on September 1st 1939 and ran until September 2nd 1945. 6 years and 1 day was the time the war lasted. We have actually created a world war 2 timeline which details all the key events of the full war period and beyond. Our timeline actually spans back as long as the first world war and continues until 1946 to enable you to see the build up and impact of the war.

Although the war technically only lasted 6 years the memories will last forever and key significant milestones still continue to be referenced until this day. The war had an incredible impact on all involved not to mention those who had to live through the whole period. Children were born, families were broken and lives were changed. One can only imagine how slow those 6 long years of fear and desperation took to pass.
